Acme Dam - Fall Migration

  • Acme Dam Acme Dam Road Acme, PA, 15610 United States (map)

Leader: Alex Busato, busatoalex67@gmail.com, 724-963-6612

Directions: From Route 31 heading east of Mt. Pleasant, proceed past the intersection with Rt. 982 and up “three-mile hill” to the top of Chestnut Ridge. Shortly after cresting the summit, turn right onto County Line Rd. Continue for just under 2 miles to the intersection of Acme Dam Rd. Just past the bridge and inflow of the dam, turn left into the parking lot (the entrance is somewhat hidden).

Description: Enjoy the peak of fall songbird migration at an under-visited but highly-productive location among the beautiful fall scenery. Featuring a lake, wetlands, forest, and extensive goldenrod meadow, this location is excellent for viewing fall warblers, sparrows, thrush, and more! We’ll also have a great opportunity to appreciate some fall wildflowers and lingering insects among the beautiful golden fields. If time allows, we can also caravan to the nearby Donegal Lake to check for early migrating waterfowl.

This site has mown, low-grade trails that are often wet with morning dew and some spring seeps, so waterproof footwear is recommended.
